The Power 10 Project is dedicated to expanding access to safe rowing for young athletes in South Africa outside the village of Redhouse. The first step to this is providing safety equipment like lifejackets, life preservers, and other safety equipment. We believe that, just like a power 10 can change the momentum of a race, collective effort can change the course of a life. Our mission is to harness the transformative power of rowing to build resilience, teamwork, safety, and confidence while bridging communities across continents.
Rowing offers incredible opportunities, but it also comes with responsibility. Water can be unpredictable, and conditions often change quickly. Waves, weather, or even small mistakes can create dangerous situations, especially for young or inexperienced athletes, who often lack strong swimming skills.
Our commitment to safety is not abstract. Tragically, a young rower from Redhouse Rowing Club lost their life to drowning, a reminder that one accident is one too many. We honor their memory by making safety a cornerstone of The Power 10 Project.
Lifejackets are a simple yet powerful tool to protect athletes on the water. By providing clubs with proper safety equipment, we can ensure that every child has the chance to row safely.
At The Power 10 Project, we believe no dream should come at the cost of safety. We believe every rower deserves the chance to enjoy their sport safely.
